This is a sound piece with visuals that I created last May, 2012. If I had my way, this piece would be a looped projection covering every wall and ceiling of a gallery space while you sit in a slow-revolving egg chair, experiencing this piece entirely as surround-sound.
Check it out either embedded here or directly on Vimeo - but don't forget, it's surround sound, so use some nice headphones or listen in your car (for real!) for the full effect of the bass.
Is there more to this piece than just the pairing of some sounds and a video of sky moving at 1% speed? Yes.
When I was younger, I believed that a certain song in my Game Boy Camera could activate my mother from a past life; she would appear in the clouds as a disembodied head, having been the victim of an explosion in wartime.
While transferring audio recordings from my childhood to a digital format, I came across this song. I then remixed the song and worked with a guitarist to create this sound piece 'Mother In The Sky,' put to visuals I shot in 2011.
